In this section you’ll find the gravesites of many relevant figures in Poe and Whitman’s romance, as well as figures relating to just Whitman. The majority of these graves are conveniently located in either The North Burial Ground or Swan Point Cemetery. Edgar Allan Poe’s remains lie at the Westminster Burial Grounds in Baltimore, Maryland. I’ve included the grave of Whitman’s late husband, from whom she obtained her married name, John Winslow Whitman, who’s located at Center Cemetery in Pembroke, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

Each grave is outlined with a location, photo, and a brief biographical sketch of the person. Please feel free to contact me with any questions if you’re planning to visit the grave yourself. I can do my best to guide you there, as I know grave hunting can be quite tedious!
