Reverend Crocker is a very loosely tied character in Poe and Helen’s story, but is worth noting because he was chosen to officiate their planned Christmas wedding in 1848 that never actually came to be.

Crocker was a Harvard graduate who first came to Providence in 1802 to take a position at St. John’s Cathedral. He also maintained a position in Brown University’s Board Of Fellows, in which he proudly served alongside his ministry duties until his death in 1865. He’s buried at the North Burial Ground on Branch Ave in Providence.
