Sarah Helen Whitman posed for a number of photographs and at least two paintings during her lifetime, some of which were turned into unique engravings published alongside her work. There are even some photos she mentions in correspondence to her friends that are unknown to us today (because her descriptions of them don’t match any of the existing photos we have). For this menu, I’ve compiled all the known portraits, photographs, and engravings of Whitman in chronological order as best I could, because a few of her photos are undated.
